Enschede, Thursday 12 March 2026
Kennispark Twente plans a “Boston-style” transformation by 2035, integrating housing and culture to attract 700 high-tech companies and 16,500 specialised jobs to the eastern Netherlands.

Expanding the High-Tech Ecosystem

The strategic roadmap, formally titled the ‘Kennispark Twente Area Strategy 2026–2035’, represents a collaborative effort between the University of Twente, the Municipality of Enschede, Kennispark Entrepreneurs, and the regional area organisation [1][2]. Currently spanning 230 hectares, the park is already a formidable economic engine, housing more than 480 companies, over 12,000 students, and thousands of researchers [1][2][4]. Generating an estimated €1 billion in added value annually and supporting nearly 13,000 jobs, the district serves as a critical node in the Dutch technological landscape [1][2][4].
